Nuggets spoil Clippers potential win with buzzer beater

The Los Angeles Clippers were just seconds away from victory, when former Clipper Randy Foye knocked a game winning three pointer at the buzzer, and gave the Nuggets a 116-115 win.

Back to back layups by Matt Barnes and Darren Collison extended the Clippers 55-46 lead over the Nuggets with 2:44 left in the second quarter. However the Nuggets began to gel offensively and ended the quarter on a 11-2 run that resulted in a 60-60 tie at halftime.

After Blake Griffin's two free throws that put the Clippers up 107-101 in the fourth quarter, the Nuggets went an 8-0 run and took a two point lead. The Clippers fought back with an amazing dunk by Griffin to retake the lead.

A silly foul committed by the Clippers, sent Nuggets guard Ty Lawson to the line. Lawson made both free throws that tied the game at 111 with 1:21 left. Down by one, Barnes connected on a long distance three pointer with six seconds left for the 115-113 lead.

Poor defense by the Clippers resulted in a loss at the hands of Foye.

They were trying to go quick; we blew the play up," Clippers coach Doc Rivers told reporters. "Give Foye credit. He didn't stop. He just came and got the ball and made a shot."

An excited Randy Foye scored 14 points, "Man, it's just pandemonium. It's just, `Whew.' Chills went through my body. Teammates jumped on me. I think somebody hurt my leg but I didn't feel it. I didn't feel anything. I went numb."

Blake Griffin finished with 36 points and 11 rebounds, guarded Foye's final shot. "I switched out. I contested. I didn't want to get too close. Obviously, I didn't want to foul a guy shooting a 30-footer. It's on me."

DeAndre Jordan finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Ty Lawson scored 27 points in his first game back from his shoulder injury, that sidelined him for several games.

First year Denver head coach Brian Shaw spoke proudly of his players in the victory, "our guys really, really fought the entire night. Obviously, we overcame a great game from Blake Griffin and Jamal Crawford off the bench."

The Nuggets return to .500, while the Clippers allow another win to get away from them on the road.
