On Tuesday, October 1st, the designers behind "nude.," a showroom opening in Providence featuring the designs of several local designers, showed a sampling of their designs at Bond located in Boston's landmark hotel, The Langham.
It was encouraging to see designers collaborate with one another to build something beautiful, meaningful, and great. What was most impressive about the show was the way in which all the pieces came together to comprise several different themes, which, if the audience were not aware that pieces from several different designers were being styled together, would think that, indeed, each segment represented a line from a separate designer.
Kudos to the wondrously talented Terri Mahn, Regional Director of Fashion Group International of Boston and owner of The Stylist Closet, who provided the styling in collaboration with the designers.
The concept of the showroom is fresh, novel, and invigorating, and its purpose, to house talented designers in a retail space whereby clients can visit and view their work, and be impressed by those of other designers, manifested beautifully in the show by the elegant styling of the pieces.
When asked why the timing is right for nude's opening, designer Jonathan Joseph Peters, shared that "now is a great time to open a store because myself and the other designers who are involved in the space have had the 3+ years of experience and client building granted to us through StyleWeek, and it is time to show everyone that we're ready to own the next step." He adds that "We wanted a home for our work. A place where our customers and new clients could visit and discover exactly what we do."
Susan Troy of Susan Troy Designs shared similar sentiments and added that she thought "it was a great opportunity to sell my designs, sort of in an accessible store...I just love everybody that's doing it."
Best wishes to "nude." as they prepare for late 2013 launch date.
