Nude beach shut down in Wisconsin after sex and drug problems

A nude beach has been shut down in Wisconsin. The alternative beach will now be closed on the weekdays, but still available on weekends, CS Monitor reported on Mar. 20.

According to the report, the nude beach was shut down due to the struggle the police have had with sex and drugs on the beach, and surrounding areas.

Nudists have been traveling to the Wisconsin public beach on the Wisconsin River for decades after it was announced that prosecutors in the liberal Dane County wouldn’t go after anyone showing skin on the beach.

However, the problem has been the sex and drugs that accompany these visitors, which finally got the beach shut down on the weekdays.

"Honestly, we're on their side when it comes to enforcing things that are lewd and lascivious," Morton said. "There's something to be said about consulting the users of the place. There's got to be more to this somewhere,” Bob Morton, executive director of the Austin, Texas based Naturist Action Committee said.

What are your thoughts on the Wisconsin nude beach being shut down on the weekdays? Do you think it’s doomed for permanent closing in the future?
