A nude beach was shut down on weekdays in order to cut down on crime taking place there. The nude beach that got shut down is located near Mazomanie in the state of Wisconsin, a place where beaches like this wouldn't typically be associated. According to The Associated Press on Tuesday (March 19), this decision to close it was made to cut down on the sex and drug use that had been reportedly taking place on the sandbar as well as in the surrounding woods.
In order to try to put an end to the illegal activity taking place there, the beach, several islands immediately off the beach, and the surrounding woods will now be closed off to the public on weekdays. The areas will remain open on the weekends, but those people planning to enjoy the area during the work week are going to have to travel elsewhere.
Apparently the Department of Natural Resources in the area determined that most of the violations taking place at the beach and its surrounding area were happening on weekdays. They have numbers to back up the claim, as 83 of 92 citations that were given out between 2008 and 2012 took place on weekdays. While there may be people disappointed that the nude beach got shut down during the week, at least it is a step towards curtailing illegal activity.
