With all the chemicals that we slather on our bodies these days, like lotions, soaps, perfumes and deodorant it's no wonder that we get migraines/headaches and even sick. We really have to watch what we're putting onto our bodies just as much as what we put into our bodies. Especially with women. Toxins is what helps us go into menopause some even sooner than others.
So when I can, I always try to buy organic skincare or make my own. I really wanted to switch from my liquid shower soap(s) to something organic and natural. That's when I stumbled across Nubian Heritage soap. I found this brand at Rainbow Natural Grocery in the Fondren District of Jackson(also find them on Nubian's website). They smell wonderful and all have specific uses.
African Black Soap with Oats, Aloe and Vitamin E: (Acne Fighting, Detoxifying & Healing) Made from palm ash, tarmarind extract, tar and plantain peel has been used in Africa for centuries to treat eczema, acne, oily skin, psoriasis and other skin ailments. This authentic African Black Soap combines Shea Butter's healing and hydrating properties along with the above ingredients to balance and resolve problem skin. It aids in exfoliation and promotes new cell growth to reveal radiant, fresh, even and healthy skin.
Carrot & Pomegranate Soap with Calendula Extract and Cranberries: (Restorative, Nurturing & Anti-aging) Carrot Seed is valued in skincare for its high vitamin and beta carotene content. The Pomegranate, one of the oldest known fruits, is a revred symbol of health, fertility and eternal life. Also valued as a medicinal plant, the Pomegranate was used in ancient Persia to treat external skin disease. The Carrot Seed Oil, ground Pomegranate and Cranberry seeds are blended into this moisturizing, Shea Butter based soap. Vitamins A, E, and F, minerals, moisturizers and anti-inflammatory Calendula extract feed the skin, clear pores, improve skin tone and help rejuvenate mature and dull skin.
Goat's Milk & Chai Soap with Rose Extracts: (Softening, Hydrating & Conditioning) Rose has proven useful in skincare for all skin types. Chai, the actual word for tea in Swahili, is rich in antioxidants to fight skin damage and premature aging. Skin softening honey is added to this naturally rich moisturizing Goat's Milk Soap with Rose extracts. Mildly astringent Rose water works with the essential fatty acids found in Goat's Milk to cleanse, help regulate pH, condition and soften.
Coconut & Papaya Soap with Vanilla Beans: (Anti-aging, Brightening & Firming) Papaya, which contains Papain, a naturally occurring enzyme, is a base for organic makeup and has been used in topical medicine to prevent adhesions and dissolve dead skin cells. This nourishing Coconut OIl soap is made with nutrient rich tropical ingredients high in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids working together to stimulate collagen production, improve skin firmness and naturally smooth wrinkles. Vanilla Beans gently buff skin as a Papaya's gentle enzymatic action dissolves dead skin cells, loosens pore blockage and stimulates circulation. Shea Butter and Coconut Oil rehydrate skin, improving suppleness and protecting against moisture loss.
I use all of these soaps and absolutely love them. I use the Carrot & Pomegranate Soap for an all over body soap as well as the Goat's Milk & Chai Soap. They both smell sooooooo good! I love, love the fragrance! I regularly us the Coconut & Papaya Soap as my facial soap, even though I have slighly oily skin this not affect me in the least bit, it actually balances my face oil. If I happen to have a break out I switch over to the African Black Soap, which also smells amazing! These soaps are inexpensive at just $3.80 per bar you definitely get your money's worth and more!
You can find these at our local health food store, Rainbow Natural Grocery in the Fondren District of Jackson or you can go to Nubian Heritage's website and purchase them. I highly recommend you visiting their website as they have many other soaps to choose from along with hand creams, body lotions, etc. I have personally tried the Goat's Milk & Chai lotion. It was quite thick and did not spread very well and I really didn't feel like it was very moisturizing to my very dry hands, however the smell was amazing! I recently also purchased the Shea Butter with Frankinscense and Myrrh lotion and it, too is very thick (granted, because of the Shea Butter base) it was a bit more moisturizing than the Goat's Milk and smells truly delicious! However I wouldn't recommend the lotions if you are in desperate need of moisture, but if you want to smell amazing then I would recommend them!
