In case anyone missed the sound of 90's girls screaming today, it has been confirmed that there will be an NSYNC reunion. According to an Entertainment Weekly report dated Tuesday, August 20, the raved about boy band will be performing together at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25.
That's right....front man Timberlake will be joined by his former band buddies JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone for a show-stopping performance (we're assuming they've still got "it"). Either way, they've still sold over 50 million albums during their career as a group.
Timberlake fans already knew that he was set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming event, but NSYNC'ites are getting even more than they hoped for.
With Timberlake's busy schedule, the possibility of a reunion wasn't looking too promising. Having a thriving solo career, he has been able to stand alone without any sign of slowing down. However, to NSYNC groupies, he will always be an integral part of one of the top boy bands of all time.
Now, before NSYNC loyals get too excited, it is important to note that no further news about the band's future has been released. It is reasonable to assume that they are only reuniting for a one-time 'tearing up the heart' performance.
Their "temporary hiatus" was announced in 2002, and the band hasn't recorded any material together since. It was clear that they had gone 'Bye Bye Bye,' but Lance Bass officially announced their split several years later.
Timberlake is currently in the midst of promoting two movies, and an arena tour.
This year has certainly been a comeback for the 90's boys, as New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees, and Backstreet Boys have all returned.
Now, the big question is: What song(s) will they perform? Will they take us back to the 90's? Will they still be NSYNC with one another? Sound off in the comments below!
