Edward Snowden wants people to just ignore what his father and his attorney are saying. He thinks that people have been misled about his situation by the media, according to an Aug. 15 article in the Huffington Post. Snowden was so concerned about the public statements being made by his dad, Lonnie Snowden, his father's attorney, Bruce Fein, and his attorney's wife, Mattie Fein, that he contacted Huffington Post by a confirmed email to set the record straight. He said that they have not been involved in his current situation and that won't change in the future.
“I ask journalists to understand that they do not possess any special knowledge regarding my situation or future plans, and not to exploit the tragic vacuum of my father's emotional compromise for the sake of tabloid news.”
Edward Snowden is currently living in Russia on a temporary asylum after leaking classified documents that uncovered NSA privacy issues. Some in the United States and around the world see him as a patriotic whistleblower and others see him as a traitor who broke the chain of command by releasing documents to the media.
Edward Snowden is wanted in the United States on charges of espionage.
