Bloomberg News reported that the intelligence agency’s inspector general reported one inappropriate incident per year for a decade. The NSA’s report stated that:
The agency insists that they did not break any laws; they just broke an executive order that was issued by President Ronald Reagan in 1981, which governs the American intelligence agency.
President Obama vowed earlier this month to hold an independent review of the NSA. The promised review board appears to consist of Washington insiders. ABC News reported that the recent acting head of the CIA Michael Morell will be joined by former officials Richard Clarke, Cass Sunstein and Peter Swire.
The Christian Science Monitor reported that the interim results of the review board’s investigation are due in 60 days.
