The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) announced yet another Region 3 side to join the burgeoning ranks as an expansion side for the 2014 season, bringing the total amount of sides across the region to 19.
Storm FC of Broward County, Florida will join Miami United, Cape Coral Hurricanes, Jacksonville United, Tampa Marauders and Georgia Revolution in the Sunshine Conference adding to the already announced Virginia Legacy, Cincinnati Saints, Flower Mound FC, Temecula FC, and Lansing sides that have already been unveiled over the past few weeks by the NPSL chiefs.
NPSL Commissioner Michael Hitchcock spoke about the new addition:
"With the addition of Storm FC in Broward County, the NPSL Sunshine Conference continues to grow and get stronger while providing a new local rival for Miami United. Florida is an important NPSL market with impressive numbers of great players and passionate soccer fans. We’re excited to add a quality ownership group in Broward County to provide another option for the local soccer community to support a team in their backyard while allowing talented local players to have another outlet to develop."
President/CEO Jose Alfredo Reygadas said:
“We are very happy and excited for being part of this league. We believe that the NPSL is going through the path of yearly growth.”
Playing their home matches at the 5'000 covered seats of Central Broward Regional Park Stadium, the club have also partnered with The West Pines Strikers FC, an organization with over 500 players and 100 coaches in their quest to grow in their corner of the Florida community.
Director of Soccer Enrique Cortina commented:
“The purpose of Storm FC is to take the natural talent of players and mold it into a set of skills that belongs to the elite level. We will develop players and turn them into educated athletes ready to compete in high levels of competition both locally and internationally.”
