The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking to revise forms concessionaires must complete. It announced on Wednesday, Aug. 21 that it is seeking permission from the Office of Management & Budget to revise the National Park Service Concessions forms companies need to get and retain contracts. You can find details at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-08-21/html/2013-20395.htm.
NPS is taking comments until Sept. 20.
NPS expects 1,352 concessionaires of all sizes to complete the annual forms at a total cost of about $425,000 in staff time.
The concessionaires provide everything at more than 100 national parks from "food, lodging, tours, whitewater rafting, boating, and many other recreational activities and amenities," NPS says. The revised forms will require more information to be provided.
NPS first proposed the changes in March. It solicited public comments and got none, so here's a second chance for anyone who has any thoughts on how to ease the burden on concessionaires, determine what info is really needed or anything else.
