Today's episode of NPR's Fresh Air featured an interview with Springfield resident and singer-songwriter Mark Mulcahy, whose critically acclaimed latest album, Dear Mark J. Mulcahy I Love You, has topped many "best of" music lists this year.

Mulcahy, a cult figure in indie music (Miracle Legion, Polaris) for over 30 years saw his star rise considerably this year with the release of his first batch of songs since 2005, and an semi-indie all-star tribute compilation record in 2009 featuring Frank Black, Thom Yorke and Michael Stipe.

Mulcahy was joined in the segment by Chicopee native and veteran multi-instrumentalist, Ken Mauri, on several songs live in the studio.

This Friday evening Mulcahy is set to play two shows at the Parlor Room in Northampton.
