Now is the time to sign your child up for summer camp

April is just days away and it is time for parents and kids to talk about summer camp. Whether your child is interested in a certain activity or just wants the all-around traditional camp experience, a number of camps are available for Connecticut residents. Consider your child’s interests and comfort level with sleeping away versus attending a day camp. Following is a selection of camps that are popular with Connecticut families and the websites where you can learn more about each one.

Specialty camps:

· Warner Theatre for Arts Education- Torrington. This is a visual and performing arts camp offering intensive two-week sessions in acting, tap dance, musical theatre, visual arts, funk jazz dance, and many more options. Check out warnertheatre.org.

· Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp- Farmington. This rockin’ day camp gives kids an opportunity to write, record, and perform their own music using guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keyboard, and horns. Look up DayJams.com.

· Camp Half Moon- Great Barrington, MA. · Camp Marist- Effingham, NH- Located on the shores of Ossipee Lake in the pristine White Mountains, Camp Marist offers campers a chance to grow as individuals and explore the Catholic faith while choosing activities such as tennis, horseback riding, football, sailing, nature hiking, dance, power boating, and many others.

Summer camp is an excellent time for your child to gain some independence, make new friends, learn new things and expand on his or her interests, and most importantly, build memories that will last a lifetime.
