In what was formerly the Robbins Flea Market, a new thrift shop and variety store called ‘Now and Then’ has opened up on North West Broad Street in Robbins, NC. Owners Loria Marcus and Lynn Cribb have filled the store with fabulous antique, vintage, and new items for all price ranges.
A native of Robbins, Ms. Marcus had spent most of her adult life in other parts of North Carolina, but returned to her hometown last summer due to family issues. “I could have opened up my shop anywhere, but I chose to come back to my hometown. I want to give back to the community where I grew up”, she said when asked why she chose her location. She has been in the antique and thrift business for more than 25 years. At one time she owned 4 stores in the Elkin area.
Her partner, Lynn Cribb is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is new to the antique business, having spent most of her career in manufacturing. “She has learned quite a bit in a short amount of time”, said Loria with a laugh. “She is learning to take a look at things and know what they are on her own”. Both of the ladies like to collect Native American artifacts, but Loria also like old Hoosier cabinets and Safari items.
The store offers booth rentals, consignment and lay away options. They will soon be hosting live auctions as well. The store has something for everyone, including tools for the men of the family. We also offer prom dresses and wedding dresses” added Loria. “Every day we have something new in the store. In fact, we are offering a special on Egyptian Cotton Sheets for the month of April. A set of Queen size, 1400 thread count sheets were previously selling for $42.95, but for the month of April, they are only $36.95”.
Booth rentals are still available, and they are accepting new consignors too. For more information, you can contact Loria and Lynn of ‘Now and Then’ Variety store at (910) 783-7200 or (910) 975-5267. You can also find them on Facebook. The store is open Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 6pm, Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and on Sunday from 1pm to 6pm.
