Disney's musical masterpieces Fantasia (1940) and Fantasia 2000 (1999) come to life in high definition for the very first time brilliantly restored. Both films are symphonic concerts that bring colorful animation sequences to life with live-action introductions. Most of the music of Fantasia was performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra with conductor Leopold Stokowski. In the sequel Fantasia 2000, most of the music was performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with conductor James Levine. The animated sequence The Sorcerer's Apprentice is perhaps one of the most famous and memorable in both Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Mickey Mouse is an apprentice to the wizard and attempts to cast a spell to get through the drudge work while his master is asleep. The outcome is comically disastrous as things quickly go awry. Eventually, the angry wizard rescues Mickey, who gets sent back to his original task after a scolding. This latest edition of the two timeless classics include new bonus features and commentaries.

Loved Fantasia. Thanks for the info.
Fantasia was a beautiful movie
Very detailed and well-written article! I remember seeing the latter film in the theater, and though I'm not a huge Disney fan I was astonished by the quality of the remake version.
I used to have Fantasia on video - but gave it away w/ a whole box of Disney videos after the kids grew up. Time to get it on DVD!
Great video - thanks for a very detailed article.
