It’s Homemade Bread Day across the country today, so join in the fun and try out this easy bread recipe that has been floating around the internet for a while (the Buffalo Baking Examiner has found it on various blogs and at www.cooks.com). Stock up on flour this week at Buffalo-area Target stores – just $2.34 for 5 pounds of Gold Medal Flour!
- 3-1/2 cups warm water
- 3 packages of yeast (not rapid rise)
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 6 tablespoons melted butter
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 10 cups flour
**Author’s note: it’s called “Tupperware bread” because you use the huge 32-cup Thatsa Bowl from Tupperware. If you don’t have one, use the biggest bowl you have and cover the dough with a clean dish towel.
Pre-heat oven to 350-degrees F. Using large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water, then add sugar and melted butter. Stir in salt and eggs, then gradually add flour. Stir until mixed (will be sticky), put on cover and put in a warm place until the cover pops off. (For those using a dish towel – let rise 30 to 60 minutes).
Put dough on a floured surface, divide into four equal sections and put into greased loaf pans. Cover the pans with a damp dish towel and let rise an additional 30 minutes.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes and cool on racks.
