If your Charlotte preschoolers are getting restless awaiting time to eat the big meal on Thanksgiving, take them to the Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade at 9:30 in Charlotte this morning.

According to WCNC, the high temperature will be in the low 40s today, so bundle up your Charlotte preschoolers. Parking may be available at Duke Energy for $5.

According to the parade website, this event will take place today in Center City, Charlotte, running Uptown on Tryon from 9th to Stonewall Street. There will be some floats and a chance to win a trip to Florida through Visit Florida. There will also be live bands and performances in what was previously known as the Carolinas’ Carrousel Parade.

According to the Charlotte Observer, there will be more singing and dancing in the parade this year than in previous years. It will be an exciting morning for Charlotte preschoolers. As they await their big Thanksgiving meal, they can work up an appetite by watching cheerleaders, clowns, and representatives from the Panthers and Bobcats.

The purpose the parade was started by “four local businessmen” in 1947, according to the parade website
was to “attract holiday shoppers to downtown Charlotte.”
