For 32-year-old Roger Federer, the 17-time Grand Slam champ is coming off his 40th win at Dubai, defeating Lukas Rosol in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Two victories away from his sixth Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship, the “Swiss Master” spoke to reporters about what it’s like to be in the final four, and previewed Friday’s match against “The Joker”.

“Before walking out I was like, ‘I'm happy I am here still alive today’,” Federer said. “I fought hard yesterday. The matches, sometimes you have to come through to end up sometimes winning the tournament, you know. So for me, here I am all of a sudden, instead of losing second round I'm in the semis playing Novak.

“I’m looking forward to the match. You know, one match, best-of-three sets on a court like this, it’s a bit of let’s see what happens, anyway. We both know that, and I’m looking forward to the match.”

For 26-year-old Novak Djokovic, the defending Dubai title-holder and top-seed, advanced to the semifinals without breaking a sweat (walkover), as Mikhail Youzhny withdrew from their match due to an illness.

The six-time Grand Slam champion, who trails Federer 15-16 in their head-to-head series, would like nothing more than to capture his 550th ATP World Tour victory by evening the score with his old rival Friday morning.

According to tennis oddsmakers, Novak Djokovic is a -425 money-line favorite against Roger Federer [+325] in this match. The winner advances to the 2014 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships final to face either third-seeded Tomas Berdych or (No.7) Philipp Kohlschreiber.
