Rumors have been swirling the past few days that tennis pro Novak Djokovic had finally proposed to longtime love, Jelena Ristic. It looks like it is no longer just a rumor as the world number one has made it official by tweeting the happy news on Sept. 25.
The Serbian couple has been together for eight years and had been expected to tie the knot soon. Fans have been waiting to hear the news for a while now.
The 26-year-old tennis player excitedly confirmed the engagement on Wednesday saying, “Meet my fiancé and future wife :) So happy! Thank you for wonderful wishes #NoleFam and friends!”
He also sent along a photo of Ristic giving her guy a sweet kiss on the cheek as Djokovic looked quite pleased about it with his famous boyish grin. The happy duo lives in Monte Carlo where he supposedly got down on one knee to pop the question. Their big day will happen sometime next year.
The newly engaged model heads up the Novak Djokovic Foundation that is set up to help disadvantaged children, mostly in Serbia, to be able to follow their dreams. It is designed to enable kids to grow up in a safe and educational environment. Ristic is also the tennis player’s biggest cheerleader as she is always seen in his box supporting her man.
Djokovic has another reason to celebrate as he in now in his 100th week at No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings. Even though he lost to rival Rafael Nadal at this year’s US Open, he still has maintained his top spot in the world of tennis. It sounds like he is definitely on top of the world right now.
Congratulations to Novak Djokovic and Jelena Ristic on their engagement and bright future together!
