NOVA THOUGHT 101.7: THE SAHASRARA CHAKRA

This is the last article about the seven Major Chakras.    The series started here.  We have travelled, so far, from the Root to the Command Center.  We are now entering the Realm of the Sahasrara (“one thousand”) Chakra, perhaps the most exciting of all.  The Seventh and last of the Major Chakras is also called the Crown Chakra.  You may easily locate your Sahasrara Chakra, thus: it is on the top of your head, where your anterior fontanel or “frontal soft spot” was, when you were born, roughly in the center of the top of your skull. This may be where the Spirit enters the human body.  Although the anterior fontanel seals at the age of two for most of us, many adults still have a slightly palpable ridge on this location.

It may assist you in your understanding of the Sahasrara Chakra to know that it implies a multi-colored lotus with a thousand petals.  The Mantra is “Aum” (often written “Om”, pronounced “ah-oom”).  This is the Treasure at the far end of the rainbow as it comes to the color violet.  The Tattva is known as Buddhi (“wakefulness”).  This Faculty is viewed in Yoga Philosophy as a part of Existence Itself, and it leads to Enlightenment.  Buddhi is a thus a “higher” form of perception than Manas, which, as I stated in the last article, is “Rational Thought”.   While Manas involves Psychic Perception, Buddhi allows us to be in Direct Communication with the Divine.  The Kundalini is said to travel through the Sushumna Nadi (more about this later) to the Crown, and the “bride rises to meet the bridegroom”.  The Inner Monarch waits patiently to ascend the Throne.

I have to mention that, at one time or another, each of the Tattvas, Buddhi, Apas, Prithivi, and so on, have all been perceived as either separate Hindu Divinities, but those of us who are monotheists, of whatever Religious Faith, can merely see them as either Elements, or Aspects of God.  It really makes little difference.

Nova Thought is not designed to replace or supersede any Religion or current Spiritual Practice.  As I have been explaining, all along, the chakras will relate to the Nova Thought System, a soon-to-be-revealed Method of Practice.  In Nova Thought the Crown Chakra connects us with the Light Principle.

We will soon be discussing the three Nadis.
