This is the fifth article in this series, which began here. We are dealing with a “new” way of practice called “Nova Thought”, which will involve the generation of the “Nova Effect”, more about which will be discussed later. As Nova Thought is heavily involved with Chakra use, I am giving a brief overview of each of the Seven Major Chakras. This article will deal with the Heart Chakra, known as Anahata (“unstruck”), whose name refers, perhaps, to a musical note yet to be heard. Anahata also means “Unconquered”.
Chakra number four is easily found by locating the notch in the center of the rib cage. The Sacred Number is 1, and the Mantra is Yam (pronounced “Yahm”), which means “sustain”. The rainbow color is green. This Chakra is visualized as a twelve-petalled red and white lotus. It corresponds to the Air Element in Classical Mysticism; the Yantra for Air, Vayu, is a blue circle. Another symbol for this Chakra is a six-pointed star or hexagram, composed of two interlocking triangles, usually surrounded by a circle. This mandala, called in Sanskrit satkona yantra, represents a state of balance achieved between Humanity and God. In the West, we know this symbol of contact between humans and the Divine as the familiar “Star of David”.
Based on its location near the Center Respiratory and Circulatory Systems, it is the channel of communication between all the parts of the body. Just as the blood is circulated by the physical heart, the invisible Psychic Energy flowing up and down the spine is circulated by the Anahata Chakra. The Internal Messenger is ready to bridge all gaps of communication.
When the Anahata Chakra is open and properly functioning, one is communicating, perhaps for the first time, with the Higher Self, and making decisions based on this contact “from the heart”. It would follow that love, compassion, charity to others, and all forms of psychic healing are related to the Heart Chakra. In Nova Thought, the Anahata Chakra correlates to the Wind Principle.
The next article will deal with the Vishuddha Chakra.
