NOVA THOUGHT 101.3: THE MANIPURA CHAKRA

In this article we will discuss the Third Major Chakra, the Manipura (“City of Gems”) Chakra.  First, I would like to do a quick review of the material covered thus far.  This series of articles, albeit admittedly in an extremely roundabout method, is actually being written to explain the Nova Thought Method, a novel approach to Metaphysical Practice.  Nova Thought involves the Release of the “Nova effect” which will soon be explained.  As the Chakras are embedded in this method, I am giving a quick overview of them first, before delving into the deeper material.  Nova Thought is not based, per se, on the chakras, but it utilizes them along with some of the appropriate correspondences, to generate the Nova Effect.

The Chakras are energy fields within the human body, spoken of, at first, in the Vedas, some of the most ancient extant Spiritual Writings that we have in this world.  The Vedas come from ancient India and are written in Sanskrit.  The chakras are visualized, according to the standardized imagery, as seven wheel-like centers or lotus flowers, along the human spinal cord.  When properly functioning, the flowers are open, the Prana Energy flowing freely up and down, and Union with the Divine is accomplished.  In previous articles, we have discussed the first two Chakras, the Root and the Splenic.

The Third Chakra, the Manipura Chakra is easy to find; simply locate the Navel.  “Manipura” means “City of Gems”.  It is logically linked, based on its location, to the Digestive system and thus, the Classical Element of Fire. Manipura is also linked to the Life-Force.  Following the Rainbow Color System, Yellow is assigned to this Chakra, although the Yantra for Tejas (Fire) is a red triangle, a symbol also used in the West.  The Mantra is Ram (pronounced “rahm”).  The Inner Warrior is prepared to overcome all obstacles.

While the Survival Urge was predominant in the Root Chakra, and Tribal feelings in the Splenic, Self-Identity is very strong here in the Navel Chakra.   This has to do with Self-Confidence as opposed to Self Knowledge, which will be dealt with on a Higher Level.  In Nova Thought, we will identify the Manipura Chakra with the Flame Principle.

The next article will deal with the Anahata Chakra.
