Recently relocated to Historic Downtown Ogden, Jasoh offers amazing Nouvelle Cuisine for those with discerning palates. The restaurant is divided into two sections: Brew Pub, which offers family-friendly prices and limited seating, and Prime Dining, which consists of cloth tablecloths and much higher prices.
Living on a budget means I only experienced the Brew Pub's selections, like most of the clientele on the night we visited. The seats by the window are divine and overlook the busy pedestrian traffic below, enhancing the dining atmosphere. The waiters are very friendly although make more of Aioli olive oil than reasonable. All in all, it was such a pleasant experience that I really didn't want to leave.
Trying to decide was difficult, but I ended up choosing the Ravioli Chicken. The sauce was just dreamy (wasn't watching calories on this one!) while the goat cheese mellowed with a sweet bite. However, the sundried tomatoes harken back to the 1990s so perhaps the chefs need to retool this selection to make it more contemporary.
Prices range from $12.09 - $14.99 in the Brew Pub section--in the Prime Dining section prices start at $23.99 and include such unusual fare as Crispy Guava Duckling and Himalayan Yak. Jasoh serves domestic and international beers and wines that are reasonably-priced in both sections for added pleasure.
Check out their full menu offerings at http://www.jasoh.com/. Reservations are highly recommended (even for a weekday dinner for 2), especially in the Brew Pub section. Jasoh is located at 195 25th Street (2nd floor), phone number (801) 399-0088. For more about Ogden's Historic District, go to http://www.25thstreetogden.com/index.php.
