As students start moving in this week, they may find the Office of Campus Ministry’s new smartphone application quite helpful. Accessible for all Apple and Android devices, the Notre Dame Daily Faith app is the first of its kind at Notre Dame and was designed to help students learn more about the varied opportunities the Office offers to help facilitate students’ faith lives.
The free app can be found by searching “Notre Dame Daily Faith” on the Apple Store and the Android Market. The app features a calendar of campus liturgies, prayer group meetings, sacred music performances, retreats, seminars and lectures. The app can even set reminders for these events so that users won’t miss out. Users also have access to prayers and gospel reflections of the day from the Notre Dame Alumni Association’s Faith ND website.
The app allows users to search for events by topic or department. Information is available from the Congregation of Holy Cross, the Center for Social Concerns, the Center for Ethics and Culture, the Institute for Church Life, the Department of Theology, the Alliance for Catholic Education, Multicultural Student Programs and Services and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
According to Rev. Jim King, C.S.C., director of Campus Ministry, the Office has created a new website and weekly e-newsletter over the past year. The release of the app is the newest development in Campus Ministry’s continued efforts to better communication with students and those who wish to learn more about the faith life opportunities on campus.
As a student who chose to attend the University of Notre Dame partly because of its rich faith life, I will definitely be downloading this app. Incoming freshmen, members of the community, and those who may not have had access to this information previously will also find value in this app, as it provides a wealth of helpful information that is convenient and accessible.
