Early Sunday morning, Jimmy Clausen walked out of a restaurant and a fan walked up and punched him in the face. This came just a few hours after Notre Dame lost to Connecticut in overtime. Clausen, 22 has a swollen eye and isn’t able to play for a few days. It appears he didn’t fight back.

According to the bartender, the “fan” said something to Clausen and then punched him. Notre Dame’s Captain and Clausen’s family said winning and losing is part of the game, and that hurting a player because of it is ridiculous.

The internet buzz on this story is hot today because people are trying to understand why any “fan” would do such a thing. No police report has been filed.
