Just when it looked like the Tennessee Lady Vols had the Lady Irish down and almost out, a spark of energy from out of nowhere seemed to have taken over the Lady Irish bodies.

The Lady Irish were down by 12 points earlier in the second half, but rallied behind great shooting and suffocating defense that gave them a lead they never lost. Their defense broke down the Lady Vols creating steals and fast breaks which led to easy lay ups or 3-point baskets for the Lady Irish.

Michaela Mabrey and Madison Cable started drilling in 3-pointers and both combined for 27 points off the bench.

Kayla Mcbride, scoring 22 points, also got in on the action pushing the ball down court and getting the ball to open players for easy baskets and at times scoring on short jumpers, layups and 3-pointers herself.

When Natalie Achonwa drew Tennessee defenders inside the paint, she was able to spot the open shooters as well and kick the ball out to them for some dynamic shooting, specifically 3-point shooting.

Taya Reimer added to the scoring by contributing 12 points and Ariel Braker was amazing on defense, grabbing rebounds and at one point creating a steal and getting the ball to Jewel Lloyd for an easy lay up.

Defense, great shooting and trusting each other were the keys to the victory in this game and it can only get better for the lady Irish if they keep these components in mind.
