You have until Tuesday, October 22, 2013 to file for the NYC maintenance worker exam. The exam will be given on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. The application fee is $68.00 and it is to be made out to DCAS. This test is for all city agencies. It is a multiple choice test and it will be given at two locations. Manhattan: 2 Lafayette Street, 17th Floor. Brooklyn: 210 Joralemon Street, 4th Floor.
Some of the duties of a maintenance worker are to perform safety checks on facilities, operation and repair of buildings, minor repairs to masonry and replace broken parts and/or windows. For a further description of duties, you can visit www.nyc.gov and click on the link NYC exams. If you believe you qualify for this exam you can go to www.nyc.gov/examsforjobs, and file for the exam online. You will be able to submit payment as well. A valid email address is required to be able to file online. The exam number is 4008.
The current salary is $24.86 per hour for a forty hour work week. You may be required to work rotating shifts on nights, weekends and holidays. You must be experienced for at least two years in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades or three years full time experience in the above trades or in the maintenance of buildings profession. Candidates must also possess a high school diploma and it must be met by January 31, 2014.
