Nothing's changed at Charlotte's Mama Ricotta's and that's a good thing!

Not much has changed at what is arguably the best Italian restaurant in Charlotte; and that’s a good thing.

On a recent lunch visit to the Charlotte staple we found that things are still the same. The establishment is still owned by local restaurateur; Frank Scabelli. We found the service to be nearly perfect, the food to be wonderful, the atmosphere to be chic but still warm, and the wonderful concoctions to be delicious.

It’s been nearly two years since our last review of Mama’s and the restaurant remains one of our favorites. Somehow, despite the government induced inflation that is driving our nation’s food prices drastically higher; Mama’s has kept their prices reasonable.

Our favorite remains the traditional lasagna. It is the best in the World. That’s correct, not just the best in Charlotte, the Southeast, or the good old US; it’s the best from any restaurant in the world.

Unless your own mama was born in Sicily or someplace close, you’ve never eaten Lasagna this good. And somehow the folks at Mama’s has kept the huge portion of the dish priced at just $10.99. There are still plenty of other favorites here like the delectable Tierra Matsu for dessert, the brick oven baked pizza, or my choice, the penne-ala-vodka. It doesn’t really matter what you eat, just eat here; and enjoy.

Mama’s is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Plus they’ve added an outside seating area complete with fireplace and a “plastic porch” that is a wonderful place to sit and drink a glass of wine over a wonderful Mama’s salad.
