A motto is a favorite saying or words you live by. Having never considered a motto before I ask asked to write a homeschool motto this week. It didn't take me long to come up with one that fit my homeschool philosopy to a T. It is, "One day at a time, one year at a time". "One day at at time" because while we do have a desired end in mind, must live for and enjoy the day and not let schooling interfere with life enjoyment. "One year at a time", as we reevaluate our goals as a family and individuals every year and make changes where necessary.
A famous saying goes "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail". Homeschoolers are no exception to that rule. While we can't plan what are kids will be when they grow up, you can plan that they will be good citizens, or well educated, or happy individuals and you can work toward that goal. This starts by knowing what you would like to accomplish and working towards it bit by bit every day.
So, what is your motto? What do you want to accomplish? How will you work towards it in your homeschooling journey?

Although my son does pretty well academically, he loves to learn by doing. We've begun our second year of homeschooling...and our horizons seem to have broadened enormously just from the people who are willing to teach homeschoolers.
So, for this year..."All learning doesn't come from books and all teachers aren't in school."
Great motto. Am trying to live that way too.
