Note to Jeremy Mayfield: Please just go away

In the midst of all the on track activity this weekend at Kansas, came a news flash: Jeremy Mayfield will hire celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos as he continues efforts to clear his sullied name.

Mayfield is in the midst of trying to clear his name after being accused of being a drug abuser after, according to Mayfield, NASCAR somehow had him test ‘false positive’ for meth… on more then one occasion.

This is in addition to all the witnesses that the evil ogres at NASCAR have gathered who have lied in sworn testimony saying that they personally witnessed Mayfield use meth. A couple of them who’ve said they saw him use on more then one occasion…in fact on many occasions. No matter that they themselves could go to jail for lying, NASCAR forced them to swear false witness.

Poor Jeremy, poor Jeremy. Being railroaded by the evil empire, framed by the ‘Man’.

Here’s a message Jeremy:  Please just go away. The overwhelming majority of NASCAR fans don’t care. And please take your purported ‘fans’; the ones that fancy themselves as closet lawyers and feel you are somehow being wronged, with you.

Think about a few things here. There are too many people involved in NASCAR for the sanctioning body to be involved in any scheme to wrongly accuse anyone of anything. Whether it’s trying to fix a race or falsify evidence against someone, too many hands are in the kitchen to ever allow someone to get away with anything like that. And if it ever came to light, which it would eventually, the corporation itself would cease to exist, and there are way too many smart people there to ever allow that to happen.

So now Mr. Mayfield you have retained the same high-profile lawyer that represented such people as Michael Jackson in his molestation trial, Chris Brown, who was on trial for the beating of his girlfriend, and Winona Ryder.

Here’s a question; how will you pay for this high-profile legal aid?

Since NASCAR has treated this entire affair with the professionalism and cautious vigilance of any large corporation, they won’t trade barbs with you. And one thing has gone virtually unsaid; you owe a lot of money to a lot of people. Reportedly tens of thousands of dollars; Debts that were incurred before your positive urinalysis put you on the unemployment line.

Is there some sugar daddy, or mama, behind the scenes signing checks? Not likely. More likely the lawyer is looking to get the publicity that would come from defending someone who spends time in the media spotlight. You certainly aren’t interested in Geragos’ record of success. This is the same guy who defended Scott Peterson, who by the way was convicted of murdering his wife and now waits on death row for his judgment day. And Michael Jackson released Geragos early in his trial.

No doubt you’re hoping to be enough of a thorn in NASCAR’s side that someone in Daytona Beach will eventually open up their wallets to make you hush and go away. Maybe then you hope to pay your debts and live the life of a country squire in Kentucky.

Truth is NASCAR has demonstrated due diligence and remained above the fray and will continue to do so. As for you claiming they are trying to wrong an innocent man Mr. Mayfield, maybe you should go to the local jail to visit with all the convicts who also claim the same thing.

It’s time for you to ‘man up’. Admit there’s a problem, get into a rehab program, and make arrangements to pay your debts.

But most of all… just go away.

Let the rest of us focus on Tony Stewart winning races and starting to make up ground in the points, while the seams of Jimmie Johnson’s once seemingly impenetrable championship armor start to fray and a 50-year-old hero to us all marches towards would could be his first, and maybe only, NASCAR championship.

It’s Chase time. It’s no longer Jeremy Mayfield’s world and we sure don’t want to live in it.

Don’t let the door hit you …well, you know the rest.

While I admit the evidence against Mayfield is overwhelming..and his chances of being innocent seem slim..for whatever his reasons he maintains he is drug free. I don't know the answers to all ... but I do know Mayfield was once a respected driver with a bright future. I know NASCAR had high hopes for him..and they made their share of money while he was in his heyday. What bothers me most is after NASCAR is done with a driver..whether they have a health problem, drug problem, gotten "too" old, or just aren't winning races anymore..they seem to shuffle the drivers aside..and want nothing more then for them to just "go away". (i.e. Tim Richmond, "Front Row" Joe, Sterling Marlin, Steve Park...and they are working on some others) I realize drivers come and go..but most of them put their hearts into NASCAR..and NASCAR gives nothing in return..and it's sad.. and sickening. I don't know if Mayfield is guilty..but telling him to just "dry up..go away" is inhuman.

  • Greg Engle 2 years ago

Josie while I respect your opinion think about this. Mayfield’s bright future flamed out long before this incident. NASCAR doesn’t try to push anyone aside, this is a performance based sport and when you aren’t performing teams usually won’t have anything to do with you; heck that’s true with any motorsport. NASCAR doesn’t tell the teams who to hire or not hire, that’s true for Nemechek and Marlin (who’s a great guy I love to death).Look at 50-year-old Mark Martin; he’s still performing so he’s still around. In the case of Steve Park, he was injured and fell off the radar screens, he’s racing again (and winning) in lower tier series and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back again. As for Richmond, great driver who let his fame go to his head and slept with more women then a rock band, and died of AIDS.

Jeremy is showing the typical signs of a meth-head in denial. I've had guys work for me that tested positive for meth, lost their employment, spent time in jail and they still deny being a user to this day. I also have several guys that are clean now and functioning well again in society that tell me they lied about their usage the whole time. They lied to their friends, their families, their wives, their bosses...etc. It's an embarrassing addiction and nobody wants to admit to using it. It's the "poor mans" LSD and that's why it's hard for the high rollers to admit to it. I wish Jeremy would have just admitted to it, got help, came clean with everyone and got on with his life. He might not have ever got a ride in NASCAR, but at least he wouldn't end up being an embarrassment to his wife, family and friends. This sage isn't going to end well for Jeremy. That makes me sad for him.

  • John 2 years ago

I wish he would go away also. However, how can that happen when writers won't stop writing about him??

  • Hmmm 2 years ago

I still believe we don't know half of the story at this point. Refer to the Andy Kaufman-dedicated song by REM called 'Man on the Moon'. It's smart to question everything you hear and read. I for one am going to wait and let the judge and jury decide. There really are too many crazy things with this story and like I said we don't even know the half of it.

That said Engle, you make many valid points but I am unsure as to whether or sworn witnesses would lie and risk jail time, especially the grade of people we are talking about -- low class rednecks who by the way, based on their relationship with him would have no problem lying about his habits.

Money talks and there's a factor of risk versus reward there. the poorer a person is the more it talks, too. We are talking about some very backwoods like people. If NASCAR or someone on the inside involved with the testing itself screwed the tests up and they knew so, they certainly have a lot at stake as far as reputation is concerned.

  • Larry 2 years ago

I guess the fact that Dr David Black, NASCAR's drug policy coordinator, is also the World Wrestling Entertainment Drug Czar does not come across as suspect. The fact that other drug specialists have stated that the test results from Mayfield's May test at Richmond were so high that (if true) would render Jeremy Mayfield dead. And the fact that JM was the one who spoke up against Ray Evernham's romantic involvement with his now wife. Carl Long lent his support to JM and exactly one week later was fined an extraordinary amount for a bogus minor violation. Yeah NASCAR would never do anything like that? Stop kidding yourself people.

  • Hmmm 2 years ago

Lots of people have reputations at risk here. The obvious ones are NASCAR with their drug policy and Jeremy Mayfield. But don't forget that the drug testing firm themselves that are at risk of losing reputation as well. They would lose a lot more than just reputation, too. they'd be liable to be sued by Jeremy and NASCAR.

I'm no closet lawyer and I don't claim to be. I'm just basing this on common sense and (possible) motivations each group would have. We don't know just how much we don't know, which is why I think articles like this hanging Mayfield (or NASCAR) by the noose are immature, self-righteous rants that are better off not being posted.

  • Greg Engle 2 years ago

I think calling the witnesses which include former crewmembers and his brother in law ‘low class rednecks’ and ‘backwoods like people’ is pretty crass…let’s face it you don’t know who those people are so calling them those terms is wrong. And if anyone at NASCAR ever paid anyone to lie in a statement they themselves would risk serious jail time and cause a national scandal, so bottom line that never happened…and it was Kasey Kahne who spoke up at Evernham and Larry why would you bash the WWE by trying to insinuate that Dr. Black is somehow less then a true professional because he oversees their drug program? That makes no sense, in fact if the WWE thought highly enough of him to hire him to help with the serious problem they had there, that to me would bode well. And there is absolutely no proof that Carl Long ‘lent his support’ to Mayfield then got fined. And by the way, there really was a lone assassin in Dallas and we really did go to the moon.

Frankly, Brian bothers me much more than Jeremy.

I just think back to NASCAR and Tim Richman and to me that sums up NASCAR's actions with Mayfield

  • Hmmm 2 years ago

Greg Engle, calling them low class or poor is not correct? Then why all the stories of Lisa Mayfield begging Jeremy for money and whatnot? Have you even seen the picture of her? Banging on the door at 4 or whatever in the morning screaming drunk only to end up arrested?

I guess from where you're from, this isn't backwards, backwoods, redneck, classless behavior. hahahahaha

  • Hmmm 2 years ago

And also, I didn't insinuate that NASCAR paid anyone off -- I left it in the air that there are some motivations for them too, and even more so the firm ran by Dr. Black. If the circumstances were assumed true that Dr. Black fudged the results, from where I'm sitting I would say the motivation to pay people off is there. Seeing how insane they are, and how dumb Lisa behaves in public, I wouldn't be surprised if she lied for free just because of her hatred for Jeremy. these people are CRAZY.

  • Hmmm 2 years ago

Also, the song 'Man on the Moon' isn't meant to be taken literally, it's not saying no one landed on the moon, hahaha. Man, get a clue. It's a figurative phrase with a meaning behind it. If you knew who Andy Kaufman was you'd understand it.

  • Hmmm 2 years ago

Dr. Black's credibility is as much of a joke as Mayfield's if not more. The joke is he ran drug testing for the WWE/WWF -- and did a tremendously terrible job at that. most of those guys live on steroids and several of them have tragically died as a result. Talk about a professional.

and as far as credibility is concerned Greg, really just the fact that you actually think REM is saying no one landed on the moon in that song, you lost all your credibility there. Its not wonder youre so quick to hang Jeremy - you take everything you hear and read for face value.

Not sure where it was said that "former crew members" were witnesses for Nascar. I believe they were only past "friends" of Mayfield. Crew members were witnesses however they were witnesses for Jeremy. The Nascar media only gives you Nascar's side of the story. Entered in court papers on Aug. 14th were the names of 23 people who will testify that to their knowledge Jeremy does not do meth. Since I'm not able to post the link to this court paper, you can find it a the Charlotte Observer - Paper Trail,

It would be nice if Nascar reporters would give the whole story for a change. Instead of putting their "spin" on an AP story

As far as Jeremy's debt to an engine builder, it has been reported that this money will be paid back by the end of December.

  • RICH_TILLEY 2 years ago

My problem is I work with and around youth who have been in and around the meth using community. And everyone agrees that there is no way Jeremy would look the way he does if he has been using meth for over 10 years.

Gee Gregg - I hope you're living high on the hog with the money Nascar has paid you to write this article. Why don't you try getting ALL the facts before you write an article like this? Have you seen all the names on Jeremy's side that support him? Detuties, sheriffs, ministers. and who does Nascar have? a vindictive ex-step mom. a disgruntled ex-employee. an ex-brother in law. None of those would have axes to grind with him? As far as Dr. Black - wasn't his company the same that said wrestler Chris Benior was clean just before he went on a 'riod rage? The main thing here is we DON'T have all the fact & may never. But hey Gregg - if you want this to go away - quit writing about it...

Mentioned in this article were some cases Mark Geragos "lost" or was released from (Michael Jackson) What was failed to be mentioned was that Michael Jackson tried to get him back after he became dissatisfied with his new lawyer, however, Mark would not take the case back. Also not mentioned were all the winners he has had, which are a h--- of a lot more than he has lost. Maybe you should Google Mark just to see how good he really is.

While I understand the general population of fans' wish for Mayfield to go away, he has a fan base who have every right to follow this case. NASCAR has given the court documents pertaining to all the highly credible witnesses (ex brother-in-law, former freeloader on his property who was asked to leave, jealous evil stepmother, etc) to the court and these have leaked to the public. Mayfield claims to have all these negative test results, taken within an hour of his highly positive NASCAR test, as well as various documentation to contradict the claims levied against him. He has made comments, but the evidence has yet to be seen. I would assume he's saving that for his trial, which is over a year away, convieniently. NASCAR has tried to sway public opinion from the very announcement of his suspension. That doesn't seem all that professional to me, but I'm a Mayfield fan. I must not be as smart as fans of other drivers.

Hey GG looks like the closet is opening! When I made reference to the man on the moon, I wasn’t referring to the song…I was referring to the phenomenon of some people to discount everything simply for the sake of argument …Like those who insist that there was more then one gunman in the Kennedy assassination or that America never really landed on the moon.

As for the witnesses against Mayfield, (court documents are public record by the way, not ‘leaked’) they happen to include former crewmembers, one graduated with honors from a Big East school, not many rednecks in his class I imagine. Dr. Black actually acted as a third party to confirm drug results from the WWE …as for the 23 names, funny but I have yet to see a Mayfield list. I have seen the NASCAR list and it has just as many who have already sworn testimony that they saw him use. The engine builder has filed a lawsuit against Mayfield that has yet to be settled, and they aren’t the only ones looking to get paid back.

  • Greg Engle 2 years ago

Mayfield’s claim of negative test results? Funny he said he has them but won’t show them to anyone.

And I wish I was paid by NASCAR, then I could actually afford my mortgage…and no we don’t always side with NASCAR or spin AP stories, just laugh at some of those call themselves fans…

Rich Tilley I assume your ‘youth’ all sees Mayfield on a regular basis? Oh, didn’t think so.

And I suspect although I can’t confirm it yet, that Garagos sought out Mayfield to ride the coat tails of publicity …and how good is he? Let’s see there’s at least one person on death row that would beg to differ with how ‘good’ he is.

And if I want this to go away, quit writing about it? Hey that’s a great idea…I’d rather focus on the current racers and their fans, the vast majority of whom don’t ever want to see Mayfield near a track again…ever…

Has NASCAR not falsified record before? Also an overwhemlming amount of people dont like Kyle Busch. Should Kyle go away? You say NASCAR has been professional? How about when this first happened and they slandered his name without having absolute undoubtable proof that Jeremy did drugs. And if you want the stories to stop then why write about them? Look you're just feeding the fire like every single other writer/reporter.

Well, mr Engle, maybe you want Jeremy to go away....I don't. I'm a friend and fan of Jeremy's. If Jeremy is a meth head, than, I'm a beauty queen. So sorry that this awful chase is being mared by Jeremy getting a new lawyer. Gee whiz, if nascrap was getting new lawyers, you would be writing all about that with glee. nascrap is so far from what it used to be,it isn't funny.Never mind what the fans say about Racing, racing has been ruined by greed. Jeremy has had his name ruined by charges that were put out there before the real truth was known. Jeremy's name has been dragged thru mud, his joy of racing taken away by false charges of being a meth head. I know you don't care about that. Jeremy's family, friends do. So he has a classy lawyer now. It will be proven that the charges are bogus.Maybe you don't care about the truth, us fan's of Jeremy's do.Jeremy is innocent, the truth is on his side. Jeremy will win.No body mentions the good things Jeremy has done for people, just these drug lies.

Assuming thats true that Black was "paid off" how does that explain how he popped positive a third time by a completely separate lab than Aegis Lab? Did NASCAR pay off also?

  • Marc 2 years ago

chuck a says.... First of all as Greg noted they weren't leaked, they are a matter of public record and seems to indicate you fail to know the basic facts of the case. Doubt it, contact me via the Full Throttle Blog and I'll send you the pdf files of the court records listing 23 on Mayfield's side.

Included is Mrs. Bone who's a smoker, and claims Jeremy stands "five feet away" when she does. Yeah that proves about nothing.

Serial killers could get a like list and his list means next to nothing.

  • Marc 2 years ago

Here's an exit question for all you Mayfield sycophants/lemmmings.

    1. Mayfield has said he had a hair follicle test completed since just after the suspension, and that he hasn't cut his hair since May 1st, giving his hair long enough time for an accurate test be given, why hasn't he done it?

    2. He claims his test in July was negative for meth, in fact his then lawyer submitted papers to the court stating he was not only neg for meth but the results show he was negative for amphetamine. How is that possible when Adderall WILL test positive for amphetamine and is why a second and more extensive confirming test is always given?

  • JMfan 2 years ago

Don't you go anywhere Jeremy - can't WAIT for you to show the world just how corrupt Nascar really is.....

  • Marc.. 2 years ago

Just go away? Why are you writing about him then? It is interesting how some people only see one side of this story. Jeremy deserves his day in court. He will prove these accusations wrong. I mean even the judge seems to be hinting the Nascar needs to get a case or go away. Oh but Nascar has a few people who claim to have witnessed him taking meth. Interesting how their stories also conflict each other as to who in the Mayfield faimily was aware that he took drugs. Of cours the step mom claims Jeremy can take math and finish 2nd and 3rd in the most competitive racing in the world. What a bad a&& Jeremy must be. I just got to know if anyone on here has ever known a drug user that openly did drugs in front of people who were not users. That never happens. Think about how stupid it sounds that Jeremy would just randomly do meth in front of non users. That isn't the way it works as far as I know. Nascar lies. This isn't the first time they have screwed someone over.

  • Marc 2 years ago

The "other" marc said: "I mean even the judge seems to be hinting the Nascar needs to get a case or go away."

Really, which judge would that be? It sure wasn't the judge sitting on the U.S. Court of Appeals who ruled in NASCAR's favor and reinstated the suspension.

And it damn sure wasn't U.S. District Court Judge Graham Mullen who in his latest ruling stated "because of new factual developments in the case and a new preliminary injunction standard recently introduced by the U.S. Court of Appeals, he would have been inclined to grant NASCAR’s request."

That request being reinstatement of the suspension because "new factual developments" was a third positive test conducted by a second and independent lab, meaning not Dr. Blacks Aegis Labs.

  • Marc 2 years ago

MAGICVA said: "Entered in court papers on Aug. 14th were the names of 23 people who will testify that to their knowledge Jeremy does not do meth."

Presumably because you note the location of the court documents, you have read what the 23 people will testify to.

But your above quote shows that to be untrue. Many of those 23 will testify to Mayfield's "honesty" and "character" not his possible drug usage. In fact only 17 of those listed will testify as to his possible drug use.

That means, for the mathematically challenged, a tic over 25 percent will NOT testify whether he used drugs or not.

  • Marc 2 years ago

So because some of the 23 people will not testify to their knowledgoe of any drug use you have to assume that they saw him take drugs? Great logic there Marc.

2.If you chase away Mayfield's fans, who will read your crappy blogs?
    3. When the sport's name is changed to the Mayfield Association of Stock Car racing, will you kiss up to him?

Well, I don't even know why I'm responding to your garbage because you delete anyone's post that disagree with your lies anyway. Why do you write these scathing articles about Mayfield if you want him to go away? Your stories about Mayfield are the same thing over and over again. If you want a real story why won't you expose Dr. Black's shady past, Brian France's past exploits with drug and alcohol addiction, or these so called people who claim to have witnessed Mayfield doing meth who all have personal vendettas against Mayfield anyways. I can't wait until this goes to court and gets cleared up and thrown out and Nascar gets exposed for what it really is.

Well I'll be, there are a lot of posts missing, wonder what happened to them. -- I see my old friend Marc from Full Throttle is here, doing what he seems to enjoy, bashing Jeremy. My main point about the 23 who will testify for Jeremy, is that, they have never been mentioned in the media, only those who would testify for Nascar. As I said, it would be nice if the Nascar media would tell both sides of the story. But this maybe coming to an end. Mr Geoagos likes to tell his story in the Main Stream media including TV, so this may make National news before long. Did I mention Larry King?? Maybe!!

  • MAGICVA 2 years ago

I guess I just "misspoke", I should have said 17 people will testify that Jeremy doesn't do meth. I believe that's 340% more that say he does do meth. LOL!!

  • MAGICVA 2 years ago

"Truth is NASCAR has demonstrated due diligence and remained above the fray and will continue to do so" -- you are correct Mr. Engle, Nascar does, however, they have no reason to come out and make statements, they have reporters like you and many others to do their work for them. There are only a hand full of reporters who will try to tell Jeremy's side of the story. Any information that gives anything favorable about Jeremy is never in the news. What I have been talking about is a perfect example. Before the news came out that there were 4 new witnesses for Nascar, there was a court filing giving 23 names who would testify for Jeremy. Even though this was a court filing just like Nascar's, no mention of it was ever in the news.

  • Sara 2 years ago

Well it's clear to me that Mr. Greg Engles knows NASCRAP's witness and not Jeremy's because it was handed to him along with how to spin the story. It's so clear that reporters like you are so scared to tell the truth, you don't want NASCRAP taking away your credentials. It's the same in the garage area. There are many that believe and back Jeremy, but cannot speak up because of the wrath of NASCRAP. This sport is nothing but a joke!

  • #3forever 2 years ago

This sport has become a total joke anyways. Its not even real racing, it reminds me of WWE studio wrestling now. The whole thing is a total soap opera now. Nascar has become a total joke. Engel, you and all of the other dopes who buy into this crap are so blind to the facts. If you ever worked in the garage like I used to back in the mid 2000's you would know what I'm talking about. I'm not going to say much more, all I can tell you is it isn't all that it seems. And yes, I believe Nascar is full of bs when it comes to this whole Jeremy Mayfield deal. The bottom line when it comes to Nascar, if you don't play their game they will get their revenge on you and I can tell you that Mayfield hasn't been playing their game for quite sometime. It will be very interesting when this eventually goes to trial and the facts start to surface. Nascar will spend as much money as they have to and tell as many lies as they can so that their image is not tarnished.

  • Hilda BeachFront 2 years ago

How do you think Jeremy felt when he read the names of the last 4 new witnesses for nascrap? Some of these are people that Jeremy has helped ,for what they needed, at that time, thru the years. What a way to pay Jeremy back. A man with a good heart, wanting to help, and this is his gratitude that they gave him. Don't worry about Jeremy's witnesses, they know that he doesn't do drugs. Jeremy has helped a lot of people, and never expected anything back.Where the big deals that are lying about all this, it will come to light, and the truth will be out there for all to see.If nothing else, I think that the world can see here, there are people that believe in Jeremy, not the crap that nascrap dishes out.A man who got his own team together, sponsor, and went racing, never was a start and park, but the big wigs tried to make an example out of Jeremy. Jeremy is innocent, and soon the world will be shown that fact.GOOOO JEREMY. YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! That's more than what can be said for nascrap.

  • Marc 2 years ago

magicva - "My main point about the 23 who will testify for Jeremy, is that, they have never been mentioned in the media, only those who would testify for Nascar."

That's flat-out wrong. If you really believe that it indicates no ability to look, or an extreme ability to ignore it. Internet search engines are a wonderful thing, use them.

And BTW "But this maybe coming to an end. Mr Geoagos likes to tell his story in the Main Stream media including TV, so this may make National news before long. Did I mention Larry King?? Maybe!!"

Bet he'll also "like" the sanctions for disobeying the inplace gag order to.
