What: Free public reception for Black Dress: Ten Contemporary Fashion Designers, an unprecedented exhibition where members of the Pratt Institute community will be joined by designers featured in the exhibit, including Byron Lars, Omar Salam, Samantha Black (Sammy B), Stephen Burrows, Donna Dove, Epperson, Michael Jerome Francis, and LaQuan Smith.

Occurring during New York Fashion Week and Black History Month, the exhibition features Madison Avenue-style store windows where each designer displays a distinct spotlight for his or her work.

Each store window features bold visions from designers who have influenced contemporary fashion around the world and who draw on the long underrepresented history of black fashion design in America.

The exhibit also features a fashion-forward video created specifically for the exhibition by renowned artist Carrie Mae Weem. Mannequins for Black Dress were generously donated by PATINA-V and Saks Fifth Avenue.
