If you haven't visited the Indianapolis Zoo for a few years, you've missed out on some major changes. On my recent journey to the zoo, I saw several new exhibits that caught my eye:

  • Cheetah habitat - complete with an interactive cheetah race that compares your running speed with a cheetah's
  • Shark encounters tank - where you can safely pet a live shark
  • Dolphin dome - where you are surrounded by dolphins from above, below and all around for a truly immersive experience
  • Meerkat habitat - an enclosed space in the Deserts building that looks like a cross between an ant farm and a game of Whack-a-Mole

Another exciting development - now your zoo admission ($14.50 for adults / $9.50 for kids plus $6.00 for parking) also includes admission to the adjacent White River Gardens: a great place to encounter butterflies and marvel at plant life.
