Not too late for chocolate strawberries and flowers!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

It’s not too late to surprise dad or mom when they get home from work.   Here is a great recipe for scrumptious gems on the table, ready for dessert.  This takes 30 minutes from start to finish and kids love participating.

Ingredients

16 ounces chocolate chips

2 tablespoons shortening

1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves still on.

Directions:

·      Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries

·      In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture.

·      Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into Styrofoam for the chocolate to cool.

·      For fun, drizzle white chocolate over them after they cool.
