From the beginning, it appeared that Amanda Bynes was just acting crazy to get attention. Although some of her behavior was outlandish, it did not really seem like anything serious. Her parents, however, have determined that she needed psychiatric care, and she has been hospitalized at the UCLA Medical Center since mid-July. According to TMZ on Sept.30, Rick and Lynn Bynes have moved their daughter to The Canyon, a private rehab facility in Malibu, on the advice of medical professionals.
According to Tamar Arminak, her parents' attorney, Bynes will be receiving specialized one-on-one psychiatric treatment, not rehab for drugs. This facility often caters to celebrities, and will offer several opportunities for her time in therapy not available elsewhere: horseback riding, hiking, and ocean views. Bynes is said to be making progress toward recovery; she has been at The Canyon for three weeks.
Amanda Bynes has become yet another troubled child star statistic. She became well-known for her role as a loud-mouthed, emotionally unsteady young girl on Nickelodeon. After several successful movies and television shows, she has reportedly been diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 27. Hopefully she will be able to resume her life and her career at a point in the not-too-distant future.
Did you ever just wonder if she was acting crazy? Perhaps she is such a good actress that they all believed her.
