It was early in the morning as my husband and I sipped our coffee in bed watching our favorite morning TV show, “Today” on NBC. I sat up promptly in bed as they mentioned a candy company out of Pasadena, California. I thought I knew every candy company, restaurant, etc. in Pasadena. The story was about how single moms started their own business and Christine Moore, owner of Little Flower Candy Co. in Pasadena was being interviewed by the “Today” show correspondents. Of course, you can only guess where I was headed the following day.
When I walked in the store it’s so much more than a candy store – its coffee and brunch items such as scones and quiches and lunch items that include sandwiches and salads. The dinner menu is diversified featuring Meat Loaf to a Dal Bowl or a Cuban sandwich.
As I gathered my items I looked at the woman scurrying around and found out that Christine Moore, the owner, was standing right before me. A few words of “how I saw you on the ‘Today’ show” sparked her interest especially when I told her you must have taken the red-eye back home to be able to open up the doors in your store. Christine is very gracious, pleasant, and a lovely woman who I was told by the locals that it’s their favorite spot to gather in the morning or early afternoon because of her friendliness and her great food.
My breakfast snack included a latte (excellent!) and a homemade fig scone, with a maple glazed topping -a smart choice for an early morning pick-me-up and the best way to start my hectic day. If you are going to pick up some candy, please choose the Sea Salt Caramels – a best seller and worth every penny!
