Not For Sale, a global leader in fighting human trafficking and serving those harmed by it, is unveiling its highly anticipated annual Gala October 5 in San Francisco. While overlooking the city from City View at Metreon, those attending will start the evening with a cocktail reception featuring an interactive installation depicting the realities of modern-day slavery.
Then, guests will be treated to a full-course dinner and a performance by musician-songwriting married duo Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald. President of Not For Sale David Batstone and Kru Nam, Director of Not For Sale Thailand, are featured speakers.
Batstone is a co-founder of the non-profit organization, author of five books, recipient of two national journalist awards, and is a professor at the University of San Francisco. Batsone’s 2010 book, Not For Sale: The Return of the Global Slave Trade—and How We Can Fight It, is considered a seminal work in the modern abolition movement.
Kru Nam is renowned for her courage and compassion by placing herself at risk when she rescued Thai children from ruthless sex traffickers. She then provided the children with safe shelter in her own home. Now 130 young survivors are housed through Not For Sale under Kru Nam’s oversight where they are being educated and restored.
In its latest impact report, Not For Sale details how they supported 273 survivors of trafficking while conducting international programs to protect and empower victims of exploitation and those vulnerable to trafficking in 30 countries.
