A backdoor cold front will stall and become stationary near the region today with considerable cloudiness and cooler temperatures as a marine-like air mass settles into eastern New York. A southeasterly flow will continue into the region through mid-week with the chance for a few scattered rain showers at times.

The front will eventually lift back north across the region by mid-week, allowing a warmer and more humid air mass to arrive into Thursday. A stronger and slow moving cold front with an associated upper level trough will then track towards the region by late-week, with rain showers and thunderstorms becoming more widespread and even heavy at times by Friday with some flooding possible. Cooler weather will then arrive into the weekend with lingering showers possible early on Saturday, before pleasant conditions look to return on Sunday.
