Dirty Habit in San Francisco’s Hotel Palomar was the location for a four- course wine dinner. During the special evening they showcased Martini Wine from Italy. Beginning with cocktails from Martini’s Vermouth collection at the restaurant’s outdoor terrace, guests enjoyed appetizers paired with a sparkling cocktail or the Gran Lusso Negroni.

The evening’s festivities kicked off with a Vermouth education and tasting led by Martini winemakers Franco Brezza, Guiseppe Musso, and Giorgio Castagnotti. Vermouth like a fine wine is created to bring out distinct flavors and aromatics. While most of us had never sampled straight Vermouth, it was intriguing to identify the subtle nuances and distinct flavors. The Martini Extra Dry was the one which most of us had a familiarity, since it is an essential ingredient in a Gin Martini.

The Martini Rosso, a deep amber color was highly perfumed, balanced by a bitter, sweet taste – an excellent addition to summer cocktails. Martini Bianco with subtle vanilla flavors makes a delightful summer cocktail combined with sparkling wine, and lime juice garnished with a lime wedge and mint.

The Vermouth only served to whet our appetite for the four-course wine dinner prepared by Executive Chef David Bazirgan. We commenced our culinary evening with a cucumber salad of heirloom tomato and burrata that paired well with Martini Prosecco, setting the tone for the meal.

The second course offered a choice of Grilled Salmon, with orzo, pesto, and cippolinis or Confit Pork Belly with peaches, farro, and scallion both paired with Martini Sparkling Rose. While both dishes looked amazing, the rich Confit Pork Belly was delicious accented by fresh peaches and balanced by the sparkling wine.

Course three was a decadent Jackfruit Panna Cotta with Martini Bianco gelee and mint ice served with Martini Asti. And the final course was a strawberry profiterole paired with Martini Moscato d’Asti. After the sumptuous evening of food and wine we were delighted, satisfied, and informed.

About: Martini Wines have been producing world class wine for 150 years. Martini and Rossi shook up the world when they created their first vermouth. The recipes for their wine and vermouth have been handed down from generation to generation – to only eight master winemakers.
Dirty Habit Restaurant is located on the fifth floor of the Hotel Palomar in San Francisco. They are a bar-centric restaurant with craft cocktails specializing in rare brown spirits and shareable, seasonable cuisine in a swanky environment.
