Norton Online Family: Internet management help for Parents

"You wouldn’t let your kids go to the beach without sunscreen or ride in a car without a seatbelt. So why would you let them go online without proper protection?"

That’s what Symantec says about its security software “Norton Online Family.”

The software is free and downloaded directly from Norton’s website.  It allows parents greater control over what kids are doing online.  Reports provide information such as what websites were visited, keywords searched, time online, and more.  It also allows parents to give access to age-appropriate content for each child.  The software gives parents control without making children feel controlled.

Parents may login anywhere; there’s no need to be on a home computer to pull up Norton Online Family to view information.

“Some things are more important than money

As a leader in cyber security, we know all too well the dangers our kids face online. We want all parents to be able to protect their children and provide a safer Internet experience for them. So we’re offering Norton Online Family to all families, free of charge.”

Norton offers an upgraded version called “Norton Online Family Premier” which provides video monitoring for sites such as YouTube, time summaries, and extended activity history (up to 30 days, compared to the free version holding 7 dates of information).

Norton Online Family is the recipient of many awards for parenting and cyber security.

When it comes to Internet and kids, I highly recommend any software that allows parents to set limits while also providing information to open the lines of communication.

Be a smart cyber parent and look into Norton Online Family.

The Arizona Attorney General Office provides an Internet Safety brochure for parents that provides more detail for parents to help them know what kids are doing online.
