Northstars and Raiders win at Mac's Midget tournament Sunday

According to the Mac's Midget Hockey Tourament website, the Calgary Northstars were victorious in the boys division and the Highwood Raiders were victorious in the girls division on day four of the 2014 Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament in Calgary on Sunday.

At the Max Bell Centre last night, Zak Kuchler, Austin Strand, Jordan Xavier each notched a goal and an assist as the Northstars beat the mighty Vancouver NW Giants 3-1. The win was impressive by the Northstars when you consider the fact that the Giants are the defending champions of the tournament.

Kuchler also spent a significant amount of time in the penalty box. He had 16 minutes of penalties to go along with his offensive prowess.

With the win, the Northstars improve to 1-2 in Pool 1 and will play the Leduc Chrysler Oil Kings on Monday.

In girls' action, the Highwood Raiders (3-0), located forty minutes south of Calgary, shutout the Kootenay Wildcats 5-0. Sarah Lecavalier notched a hat trick, while Courtney Toney made seven saves for the shutout. The Raiders play the Melville FOX FM Prairie Fire on Monday.
