Northrop Gruman, a global security company may create up to 1,800 jobs and invest $500 million in capital as part of the company’s expansion in Melbourne. These new jobs are in addition to an announcement for a Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence in Melbourne and an Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence in St. Augustine, according a May 8 statement by the Office Governor Rick Scott.
The expansion will take place in phases. The first will begin with the construction of a new 220,000 square foot office building and the addition of 300 jobs. Construction of additional facilities up to 500,000 square feet may create 1,500 more jobs, according to the statement by the Office of Governor Rick Scott.
“This is good news for Florida. We need more jobs and these are good jobs to have,” said Brandy Hanson.
“I hope all these jobs really open up. We need all the jobs we can get,” said Hope Matthews.
Most areas of the nation seek more jobs. Cities and counties will offer tax and other benefits to encourage companies to locate their operations to their communities.
