Northeast among the featured destinations during MNfashion week

Northeast Minneapolis is known for its locally based, independent merchants so it makes sense that it is a destination point during MNfashion Week, April 9 through April 25.

Northeast boutiques and the historic Ritz Theater are hosting some of the featured events.  

Up for a change from the typical chain store, mega-mall shopping experience?  Get into the independent spirit and check out these events:

A Night of Eastern Enchantment
Belle Reve Boutique is hosting an evening of Eastern jewelry and clothing and a trunk show. Saffron Jewelry and clutches by Ayesha Tahir Masood will be 15 percent off. Light refreshments will be served with music by DJ Sharabi of Tantric Beatz. Admission is free.

I Like You Trunk Show and Anniversary Party
Known as a destination for locavore shopping, I Like You celebrates its one-year anniversary with a trunk show featuring eight local designers’ spring wares. Featured artists include Pea & Bean, Play by Marly and Rebecca Yaker. Admission is free.

Haircut Happy Hour
Miyagi, an independently owned salon, hosts a cut-a-thon to benefit MNfashion. All haircuts will be $20 during happy hour all week. All proceeds from this event will be donated to MNfashion. No tip is necessary either as Miyagi is a no-tipping salon.
(Appointments are strongly recommended. Call 612.331.1912 to book.)

Fashion Ball 2010 “Cabaret Catwalk” at the Ritz Theater
Experience Paris fashion week in Minnesota. This fashion ball and fundraiser for Ballet of the Dolls is produced and styled by Grant Whittaker and Myron Johnson. It features an avant garde cabaret with four luxury runway shows, a pop-up boutique, and fashion by Grethen Hous John Novachis, and Ann Lambrecht Jewelry. It also features a silent auction, haute cocktails made with Prairie Vodka and ten couture collections presented by Ballet of the Dolls. The setting is the historic Ritz Theater.
