North Medford kept its hopes of a Southern Oregon Conference title alive with a 34-7 win over the South Eugene Axemen.
Quarterback Troy Fowler led the way with three touchdown passes, with the first coming in the second quarter when he hooked up with Tristen Holmes for a 16 yard touchdown, giving the Black Tornado a 14-0 lead. Earlier in the quarter Micah Brown had on a 17 yard run to give North the lead after a scoreless first quarter.
Fowler ended the night going 12-18 for 165 yards and three touchdowns. The second TD pass came early in the fourth quarter when he and Eugene Ellis hooked up for a 41 yard touchdown. Later in the fourth quarter Fowler and Holmes connected a second time for a 13 yard score.
The rushing was also strong for North Medford as Nick Janakes rushed for 166 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown. His lone score came in the second quarter on a three yard run, extending the lead for North to 21-0.
Friday night's win leaves the Black Tornado perfect in conference play. In order to win the conference title North will have to one of it's final two games, starting next week at city rival South Medford. South Medford lost it's game Friday night to Grants Pass 32-31 in overtime.
