When the economic development of a city, as well as jobs that have been promised to some of the most deserving members of society, have been damaged due to the actions of a single person using the internet as a weapon, the community deserves to know about it. In most cases, the actual impact of a person's actions online are up for debate, as it is quite difficult to actually measure the impact over time. It has come to light this month that the actions of one person has created damage that will result in the loss of a major development project to the city of North Las Vegas, and as a result of the termination of the project upwards of 260 jobs in sales and training that were promised to veterans will no longer happen. This is the unfortunate story of Saber UPA and an internet campaign designed to harm the reputation of Lord Neil Gibson.
Saber Ultra Precision Ammunition was a development project that was moving successfully through the stages of approval, zoning and structuring on it's way to becoming a business reality in North Las Vegas early next year. The project was designed to become the world's leading producer of ultra-precision ammunition for both public and government consumption. The manufacturing facility was to act as the cornerstone to an inclusive suite of business entities that would provide training, education and testing for future product improvements that would have employed hundreds of people. The economic boon to the struggling community of North Las Vegas would have been quite dramatic, and the fact that the majority of the jobs created were intended to be filled by the hiring of veterans was met with excitement and anticipation. There had been no major delays or hurdles in the process, and all approvals had been gained and put in place by the government of North Las Vegas, as well as the planning commission and the mayor.
Lord Neil Gibson spearheaded this project through his company LNBG LLC as well as in partnership with numerous strategic partners, advisers and investors. Gibson is behind many successful development projects in the past that have successfully created jobs, better economic conditions and prosperity both in the United States and abroad. However over the course of the past two years, Gibson has been on the receiving-end of a large scale smear campaign designed to spread false information connected to his name in an attempt to create confusion as to the facts surrounding his business practices when doing research on him on search engines like Google. This is accomplished through the widespread use of internet properties that are structured to rank highly on the engines, and the information posted associated with Gibson will rank highly for searches for his name, as a result. Tactics have also gone so far as to secure variations of Gibson's name on different free spaces online in an attempt to appear as though the sites were owned by Gibson himself, and spread false information through them in an attempt to appear legitimate. This manipulation of search engine positions resulted in questioning of Neil Gibson's reputation by entities crucial to the Saber UPA project financing, and a decision on their part to potentially rethink their relationship with Gibson and his companies.
The delay in funding has created an unstable situation in the progress of the Saber project, which has now caused the management behind the project to terminate the existing plans. The future is in question with regards to the project as a whole, and the determination to not continue the process in North Las Vegas has resulted in a major economic loss with respect to the city in terms of tax revenue and jobs.
The most unsavory element of the entire story is the fact that these jobs were promised to veterans, who would not only be on the receiving end of employment in the private sector but also would have actually been idea for these types of occupations. The community of veterans would never have known about the loss without this information being public, and the fact that the mastermind of the smear campaign against Lord Neil Gibson is a veteran himself is reason to pause. The unintended consequences of a person's actions have now not only done damage to the targeted party, but also to the very community that needs and deserves support the most.
