North Gwinnett went on the road to face Region 7-AAAAAA rival Norcoss on Tuesday night in a contest between the Max Preps Nos. 4 and 17 boys basketball teams in the state. The No.4 Bulldogs were looking to extend their region undefeated streak to 11 by downing the No. 17 Blue Devils, but Norcross used smothering defense and team offense on their way to a 59-48 victory in front of the home fans.

Norcross (13-5, 8-2) was missing Ricky Madison, but got contributions from their entire bench and held a 12-point advantage as the final quarter began. The Blue Devils then outscored the Bulldogs by a 10-2 count during the first 2:16 of the quarter to push their lead to 16, 50-34, on their way to the 11 point victory margin.

AJ Farrar led the home team in scoring (14), rebounds (8) and steals (3), while William Gibbons (11) and AJ Bush (10) were also in double digits for the Devils. Lorenzo Carter (nine points, six rebounds) and Khalen Pinkett (eight points, six assists) rounded out the complete team effort.

North (15-3, 10-1), playing without star guard TJ Smith, was led by Ahmad Caver and Kam Calhoun in the loss. Caver scored 21 points, almost half of the Dogs total, while Calhoun added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Malik Carter added 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.
