The Fargo North Dakota resident called in to a local radio station and explained the method to her madness.
"I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight," said “Cheryl” during an interview with WDAY-FM radio in Fargo.
"I think it's just really irresponsible of parents to just sort of send them out looking for free candy just 'cause all of the other kids are doing it," she said.
Many people were wondering if the story was a joke, but "Rat," the morning co-host at WDAY-FM told CNN it was definitely true and stated Cheryl did call in, but they were not able to get her back on the phone.
He encourages any children that did receive a note to stop by the station and exchange it for candy.
