North Dakota managed to survive two overtimes in Saturday’s Midwest Regional final in Cincinnati, OH to move into the Frozen Four.

Despite only taking twenty-six total shots, North Dakota’s Stephane Pattyn scored his seventh goal of the season to tie the game at one on a power play at 10:40. Three minutes earlier, at 7:31, Ferris State had an even strength goal from Cory Kane. The goal was Kane’s fourteenth of the season.

Connor Gaarder put in his eighth goal of the season at 2:28 of the second overtime to seal a Frozen Four berth for North Dakota, and he had assists from Paul LaDue and Nick Mattson, who also were the assistants on Pattyn’s goal from regulation.

North Dakota plays Minnesota on Thursday April 10 at 8:30pm ET in the second semifinal at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia. This year’s event will be the first that has been hosted by Wells Fargo Center and the city of Philadelphia.
