In Westchester County the authorities have transformed an old railway road into a great place to go and relax. The whole length of the trail is asphalted so lots of people go there for biking and jogging. The North County Trailway is only a part of the Old NY Central Railroad's Putnam Division line. This line used the connect Brewster with New York city till 1958, after that the authorities had transformed it in a bike trail. There are numerous places to park along the trail and definitely check a map before you go to see exactly where there are.
Once you are on your bike you begin to enjoy the ride. The asphalt is perfect and the tall trees are keeping it cool. From place to place there are posts about the places where there use to be train stations and maps to understand the area. The path is very well maintained, with benches to stop for a break and the presence of the emergency phones make you feel safe. The bridge over the New Croton Reservoir is the place to reach at least once. From this bridge there is an amazing view all around.going more north there is the city of Yorktown Heights were the are some stores a block away from the trail where you can buy refreshments.
Along side of the path there are a lot of wild raspberry and if are lucky might see a deer in the forest.
Due to the length of the trail is not possible to cover it all in one trip so maybe will see you next time there.
