The 2013 NCAA basketball live stream and TV games on Wednesday will feature a doubleheader which has two games from the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The nightcap game will feature the #1 overall team in college basketball with the Michigan State Spartans as they host the unranked North Carolina Tarheels. The latest of the televised and live stream NCAA basketball matchups will be presented on the ESPN sports networks for fans Wednesday night.
As ESPN.com reported on Dec. 4, Roy Williams is 6-0 as UNC coach in all of the meetings he's had with Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans team. However, tonight's Spartans team may have the best legitimate shot at ending that undefeated mark, as they currently are ranked #1 overall, and UNC looks to be slumping. The Tarheels enter the game after a disappointing loss to UAB, while the Spartans are off to one of their best starts in the past thirteen years. Izzo will be happy to not only have home court advantage, but also the services of sophomore guard Gary Harris. Harris will return after missing the previous game to rest an ongoing ankle injury.
Speaking about Harris, Izzo told reporters:
"He's probably our most all-around important guy because of the impact he can have on both ends of the floor. I think that's what's so important about getting him not only back, but getting him back where he can do those things."
Coming into this matchup, the Spartans are 7-0 on the season so far including a win over previous #1 Kentucky, 78-74 back on Nov. 12. In their previous contest, Michigan State handled Mount St. Mary's with a 98-65 route. The last time State beat UNC is a different story, though. The Spartans won 77-64 over the Tarheels on Nov. 29, 2000, the most recent time they met in East Lansing.
UNC enters the game at 4-2 overall, averaging 76.7 points a game and allowing 69.5 points a game. Among their wins so far this season was a 93-84 win two games ago over then-No.3 Louisville. Marcus Paige led the way with 32 points, while Brice Johnson and Kennedy Meeks each added 13 in a game in which UNC shot 54.2% and held the Cardinals to under 40% shooting. Rewind to the Tarheels' previous contest against the UAB Blazers and they shot just 42.9%, while also missing 7-of-11 free throw attempts. UAB shot a dismal 30.6%, but it was the fact they hit 22-of-28 free throws that decided the game. That leaves Tarheels fans wondering which UNC will show up to play MSU in tonight's game.
Odds makers give the edge to the No.1 team as the Spartans are favored by 9 1/2 points at most sports books. The over/under points total for the game is set at 152 points. North Carolina guard P.J. Hairston is listed as out for tonight's game, while Gary Harris, who is listed as "probable," appears good to go tonight.
