The ACC/Big Ten challenge continues today with several big games on the schedule including North Carolina taking on the Michigan State Spartans tonight from the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
Talk about a clash of the titans.
Sure it may just be a regular season game, but this game will have the feeling of a Sweet Sixteen March Madness battle.
According to a Sportsline report on Dec. 4 Roy Williams has gotten the best of Tom Izzo every time they have met.
The Tar Heels and Spartans have met twice in the Final Four and even on a docked aircraft carrier. However no matter the circumstances or venue, Williams has come out on top in all six match-ups.
Izzo may be 0-6 vs. Williams so far, but that may all change tonight.
The Spartans know they haven't beaten UNC in years, and despite the Heels slow start, Senior point guard Keith Appling knows this game will be a battle.
''We're going to be ready," Appling told the team's official website. "We're going to need to do all the little things in order to come out with a win. We know how good they are.''
Las Vegas experts expect MSU to get coach Izzo his first win vs Williams's team tonight. The Spartans are 9 point favorites and the over/under number is set at 154.
Prediction: The Spartans seem more focused this season then they have the past few and the 7-0 start shows that. UNC is always tough to beat, but unlike the past Tournament games, this game is in East Lansing where the Spartans don't lose too often.
