Josh Level, a 17-year-old North Carolina basketball star, died on the court during time-out Tuesday night. Fox Sports Carolinas.com reports on Feb 20 that the cause of death has not yet been released.
Josh Level was one of North Carolina’s promising basketball prospects as a junior at New Garden Friends High School in Greensboro, N.C. Reportedly, he had garnered the interest of multiple colleges already.
According to Fox Sports Carolinas.com, 911 was summoned to the game and a nurse administered artificial respiration, but he did not respond.
Level was 6’5” and played the guard position. He is remembered for his enthusiasm about basketball, and his death has been met with sadness by players, school administrators, and fans. Josh Level was interviewed for a website called Ballislife.com where he made the following statement about the game and what it requires from a player:
"Most guys lack … hustle and heart and desire to be out there," Level said into the camera. "To play this game, you have to have a lot of heart."
